The group, born from the research agreement between the Dept. of Ancient and Modern Civilizations of the Univ. of Messina and the Taormina Naxos Archaeological Park, intends to study the settlement dynamics in the territory of the municipality of Casalvecchio Siculo (Agrò Valley) and to frame, specifically, the development of the monastic complex of SS. Pietro and Paolo d'Agrò (Casalvecchio Siculo, ME) through a multidisciplinary approach that sees the typical methodologies of archaeological investigation (topographical stidio of the area, archaeological and architectural archaeology investigations) flanked by archaeometry research (chemical-physical analysis on the building materials of the church of SS. Pietro and Paolo) and preventive diagnostic investigations (georadar, magnemotry, geoelectrical). To this end, the group is composed of scholars specializing in lines of research pertaining to: a) archaeological aspects, particularly of archaeology of the territory and archaeology of elevations (Marie-Ange Causarano, Marco Miano, Marta Venuti, Maria Grazia Vanaria); b) archaeometry aspects - chemistry and physics applied to cultural heritage (Paola Cardiano, Valentina Venuti); c) historical-architectural aspects, conservation and restoration of monuments (Fabio Todesco, Daniela Sparacino, Antonino Tranchina).
