Description
Giovanni Crupi received the M.Sc. in electronic engineering (cum laude) and the Ph.D. degrees from the University of Messina, Italy, in 2003 and in 2006, respectively.
Currently, he is a Full Professor of Electronics at the University of Messina, where he has taught Fundamentals of Electronics, Microwave Electronics, Wireless Technologies, Optoelectronics, and Bioengineering. He serves as the Coordinator of the AQ-RDTM Committee (Quality Assurance for Research and Third Mission) of the Department BIOMORF.
He spent nearly three years as a visiting scientist with KU Leuven and IMEC, Belgium, over several periods between 2005 and 2010. His research interests include the characterization and modeling of microwave transistors for wireless applications as well as that of microwave sensors for bioengineering applications. He has authored or coauthored over 300 publications in international journals and conferences. He has coedited two books: “Microwave De-embedding: From Theory To Applications” (Elsevier Academic Press, Oxford, UK, 2013) and “Microwave Wireless Communications: From Transistor to System Level” (Elsevier Academic Press, Oxford, UK, 2016).
Dr. Crupi is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Numerical Modelling: Electronic Networks, Devices and Fields (Wiley) and the International Journal of Optomechatronics (Taylor & Francis). He has served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, IEEE Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters, and IEEE Access, and Section Editor-in-Chief of MDPI Electronics. He was the TPC Chair of IEEE INMMiC in 2014 and 2015. Since 2012, he has chaired the IEEE MTT-S Graduate Fellowship program, a premier educational activity awarding up to 15 annual fellowships, each in the amount of $6,000 plus $1,500 to attend the International Microwave Symposium (IMS) in the USA, to encourage future leaders and key technical contributors in their pursuit of careers in RF and microwave engineering.
