Overview

The group is composed of professors from several Italian and foreign universities. It has been operational since 23/01/2018 and it was created with the aim of investigating the relationship between Complexity and Method starting from the perspective of a thinker who has made it his life's work, Edgar Morin, and then extending the net of reflection to its scientific and epistemological implications and to the philosophers and scientists of the twentieth century. The research activities aim to redefine, from different fields of study, the concepts of knowledge and philosophy in order to revaluate the effects of the 'consideration' of becoming and history within the relationship between subject and object. The group promises to investigate the relationship between complexity and method from the sources of complex thought, both scientific - from thermodynamics to complementarity, from indeterminacy to autopoiesis - and philosophical - from Heraclitus, via Vico and Hegel, to Croce. The aim of the research is to pursue the possibility of a redefinition of the concepts of knowledge and philosophy that starts from the need to rediscover the effects of the 'consideration' of becoming and history within the relationship between subject and object. The group has undertaken to bring together the results of the various studies in the publication, within the current year, of a volume entitled Complexity and Method.
