Language in Education (LiNE)

Group
LinE Hub is an international multi and inter disciplinary scientific network across scholars studying the topic of language in education from a range of perspectives, such as educational linguistics, applied linguistics, corpus linguistics, language teaching, subject-specific education. There are 12 Universities in the network: Università degli Studi di Trento, Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Libera Università di Bolzano, Universiteit Gent - Ghent University, Universität Innsbruck, University of Malta, Università degli Studi di Messina, Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Università degli Studi di Padova, Università degli Studi di Parma, Università degli Studi di Torino e Università degli Studi di Verona. The networks aims at promoting research on the role of language in education regardless of the discipline through the mother tongue or additional languages. It raises awareness of school and university teachers concerning the role of language in education, in terms of language for general academic purposes as well as for specific purposes, and of linguistic and interactional features of in-class exchanges. The group reflects upon the challenges of the internationalization processes and dynamics (internationalization at home and abroad, and beyond Englishization) and of inclusion on all education levels and across disciplines. It also develops resources and share best practices in teaching methodology, techniques, strategies, and models across disciplines, languages, and national education systems. It also makes up-to-date bibliographical references, reports, and research materials on language in education available on the LinE Hub website. It disseminates the research findings and achievements among the academic community through publications, conferences, thematic panels, workshops, summer schools, meetings among the LinE Hub branches. It organizes and coordinates outreach and public engagement actions for schools, families, stakeholders, general audience through teacher training courses, seminars, participation to science festivals or social media.
