RESEARCH INTERESTS
At the beginning of his PhD course, his research activity focused on the numerical optimization of (Preisach-based) mathematical models of scalar magnetic hysteresis. Since the second year of the PhD course, his research interests have been focusing on the modeling of spin-wave dynamics occurring in ferromagnets at mesoscale. In particular, he has been investigating numerically and analytically the generalized Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation, that is a nonlinear parabolic PDE describing magnetization dynamics driven by magnetic fields and electric currents. In this context, he has been investigating the phenomena leading to either magnetization reversal or persistent precession. In this latter case, particular emphasis has been given to the calculation of the key features of the excited spin-wave modes as well as of the conditions determining their propagating or standing character. He has been also tackling the study of domain-wall propagation, by deducing analytically the expressions of the characteristic parameters involved into the observed dynamical regimes and has been contributing in elucidating the role played by crystal disorder, spin-orbit-torque (Rashba and Spin-Hall) effects and magnetoelastic interactions.
His research interests also include the study of pattern formation in biological and ecological complex systems. In particular, he has been investigating self-organization phenomena occurring in hyperbolic reaction-diffusion-advection systems that are deduced within the framework of Extended Thermodynamics Theory.
So far, he is co-author of 77 publications on peer-reviewed international journals, more than 80 contributions on international conferences, 8 invited talks and 3 book chapters.
