Description
GRAZIELLA SCANDURRA is currently Associate Professor of Electronics at the Department of Engineering, University of Messina, Italy. She is Coordinator of the Master's Degree Course in Electronic Engineering for Industry at the same University.
She obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Full Professor in the sector 09/E3 - Electronics, on 11/13/2025.
CAREER :
- She received the Master Degree (with honors) in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. Degree in “Advanced Technology for Information Engineering” from University of Messina in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
- From May to November 2001 she was involved, as holder of a contract, in a scientific collaboration with the Department of Information Engineering, University of Pisa, Italy, on the topic “Realization and testing of instrumentation for the investigation of the reliability of the failure mechanisms of devices and materials for microelectronics”.
- From May to August 2005 she was involved with the Department DFMTFA of the University of Messina with a contract on the topic “Feasibility study of a power line communication device for low cost power modules” within the framework of a PRIN (Project of Relevant National Interest) on “Intelligent power modules for low-cost electric drives”.
- In 2005 she was awarded a four year (2005-2008) research grant on the topic “Design of RF integrated circuits in CMOS technology for WLAN applications” by the University of Messina.
- In 2008 she attained the title of Researcher in Electronics at the University of Messina, Department of Engineering, where, since 2021 she is Associate Professor.
TEACHING ACTIVITY:
- Since 2005, she has been involved in teaching courses in Electronics at the University of Messina. In particular, she taught, among others, Analog and Digital Electronics and Microelectronics. Currently, she is Professor of Analog Electronics and Front-End Electronics.
- Since the 2023/24 academic year, she has taught Analog Electronics as part of the training courses provided by the Ministry of Education for the training of school teachers.
- She is currently a member of the Academic Board of the PhD course in "Engineering" of the University of Messina, where she teaches « Electrical characterization of devices and materials ». She was a member of the PhD course in "Industrial and Information Engineering" of the University of Messina and, previously, of the Academic Board of the PhD course in "Advanced Technologies for Optoelectronics and Photonics and Electromagnetic Modeling" of the University of Messina, Cycles XXVII and XXVIII.
- In the period January-March 2022 she was invited as Visiting Professor at the Gdansk University of Technology, Poland, whithin the Project "Integrated Development Program of the Gdańsk University of Technology". In this context she gave lectures on Advanced Electronic Circuits.
- In 2008 she was teacher of the "Electronic Instrumentation" module as part of the master's degree in "Mechatronics for new production activities - MECAP", held at the University of Messina.
RESEARCH ACTIVITY:
Her current research interests include the design of dedicated, low noise and high sensitivity instrumentation; the development and characterization of sensors and advanced sensing techniques; applications of Impedance Spectroscopy and development of related instrumentation. In particular, she was responsible, among other things, for the design and development of dedicated instruments with performances that are among the best reported in the scientific literature. She has been involved in the design of voltage and transimpedance amplifiers and of low-noise programmable voltage and current sources, in the development of correlation measurement methods, in the application of noise measurements for the characterization of organic transistors, flexible devices, and of electromigration in advanced interconnects and in thermometry. She was involved in research activities aimed at the realization of sensors (on flexible substrates too), and in the design of instrumentation for sensors characterization and for FES (Fluctuation Enhanced Sensing) applications. She was also involved in the design of portable and low cost impedance meters and in the application of impedance measurements in the fields of medicine, sport, energy and food, and in the the development of dedicated instrumentation for low frequency measurements.
- During her career she collaborated (and still collaborates) with several national and international universities and research centers (ST-Microelectronics, Castelletto and Catania sites, Italy; Interuniversity Microelectronics Center (IMEC), Leuven, Belgium; Institute of Optoelectronics, Military University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland; Instituto de Investigacion Tecnologica of the Pontifical University Comillas, Madrid, Spain; Gdansk University of Technology, Poland; A&M Texas University, USA; Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, Polytechnic of Milan, Italy; CNR SPIN of the University of Naples, Italy; IMM-CNR of Rome, Italy; Department of Information Engineering, University of Pisa, Italy; Department of Physics and Chemistry, University of Palermo, Italy). The collaborations are evidenced by several joint publications.
- She is responsible for the “Instrumentation, Measurement, Reliability and Quality” Laboratory of the University of Messina, Italy.
- She co-authored more than one hundred papers, listed on Scopus.
