Faced with slow progress in UN climate talks and the limited timeframe for transitioning to a carbon-free economy using conventional policies, this proposal emphasizes the importance of behavioural interventions. Focusing on the Sardinian dairy sheep sector, a significant emitter of greenhouse gases in the EU, the research aims to understand farmers' reluctance to adopt eco-innovations and identify effective behavioural levers for policy interventions. The study will involve a survey and a field experiment using a carbon footprint decision support tool, with a randomized control trial design to evaluate the impact of encouragement on adoption rates.
