The research group is composed of two DiCAM professors (Daniele Castrizio and Mariangela Puglisi) and a doctoral student (Ludovica Di Masi) and carries on a research started back in 2001 on the initiative of a professor of the University now retired, but still participating in the scientific activities of the LIN (Maria Caltabiano), who was also the coordinator of two related, nationally funded Projects (COFIN 2003/04 and PRIN 2009).
Since its start, the LIN has made use of various collaborations, formalized in funded projects, with the Universities of Bologna, Genoa and Milan, which are still active today (except Genoa) with the participation of a professor (Annalina Morelli) from the University of Bologna, a professor from the University of Milan (Lucia Travaini), with the involvement of PhD students in Numismatics from the aforementioned universities. A professor (Benedetto Carroccio) and a postdoctoral fellow from the University of Calabria (Marianna Spinelli) and two independent researchers, former research fellows at the University of Messina (Grazia Salamone) and at the University of Bologna (Erica Filippini), participated and are now participating in the project.
