In view of the approach of the anniversary of the "Capaci massacre", after thirty years, the intention has arisen to create a volume resulting from the contribution offered by former Falcone Foundation fellows who have matured, over time , a "link" with the University of Messina (due to the achievement of the degree, the doctorate, or in consideration of the current teaching activity within the same University).
The initiative was supported by the intention of wanting to contribute to keeping alive and promoting the value of legality through the creation of a collective work that takes on the meaning of homage to the memory of the Fallen and to the efforts made, over many years, by part of the Falcone Foundation thanks to which each of the participants in the editorial project under discussion was able to dedicate time and resources to study and research activities.
The topics dealt with in the volume (relationship between the mafia and politics; disqualification measures; anti-mafia, personal and property prevention measures; examination of the "mafia method") resume, obviously after a careful synthesis and updating, the contents of the scientific research work undertaken, with regard to the various years, thanks of the scholarships offered by the Foundation.
The richness of the editorial project is also related to the different backgrounds of the participants in the initiative (judges, public serveants, university professors, police officials, young researchers, post-doc, PhD students and lawyers) whose institutional roles and whose cultural and professional have constituted an opportunity to combine, from different points of view, a detailed scientific study of the issues, studied and illustrated, in one with a "practical cut" perspective.
The initiative undertaken was included within the "University for legality" project, promoted by the Falcone Foundation and presented at the event held on 23.11.2021 at the University of Palermo.
