CURRENT ROLE
From 2 December 2019 (DR. Prot. N. 120265/19) to date he is Full Professor of Economic-Political Geography SSD M-GGR / 02 at the Department of Cognitive, Psychological, Pedagogical and Cultural Studies of the University of Messina.
From November 30th 2016 (DR. n. 2591/16) to December 1st 2019 he was Associate Professor of Political and Economic Geography (SSD M-GGR/02) in the University of Messina, Department of Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, Educational and Cultural Studies.
From March 1st2009 to November29th2016 he was Assistant Professor of Economic and Political Geography (SSD M-GGR/02) in the Department of Political, Communication and International Relationships Science in the University of Macerata and also Aggregate Professor of Economic and Political Geography and Tourism Policy in the University of Messina, Department of Cognitive Sciences, Psychology, Educational and Cultural Studies.

He earned a PHD in “Territorial Organization and sustainable development in Europe” cycle XVI, at the University of Catania.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES
The scientific activity is documented by publications about several areas of geography, with particular reference to Urban, Economic and Tourist Geography.
The principal research projects were on subjects like the interdependencies between city activities and their impact on the urban ecosystem, considering the local policies addressed to the improvement of citizens and children’s quality of life.
Various publications have dealt with several issues related to tourism development in Sicily, with particular reference to the harbor, cultural routes and development of ceramics as related to tourism.
The recent studies are on: 1) environmental and urban redevelopments, such as economical and cultural growth opportunities and tourism and local development; 2) conversion of expenditures and the new functional and organizational aspects of municipal commercial functions; 3) territorial and sustainable competitiveness” to carry out the Lisbon/Gothenburg processes; 4) the evolution of the Mediterranean geopolitical order.
In the macroregional context he has approached geo-economic and geopolitical studies in the countries of the Mediterranean basin, reflecting on matters such as the economic and the territorial unbalances, regional conflicts, geopolitical instability and the failure of the European Union regarding political action in the Mediterranean.
He participated in the following A.Ge.I Working Groups: “Il commercio tra tradizione e innovazione”; "Media e geografia"; “Riordino territoriale e sviluppo locale. Quali elementi di contatto?”; "Una rete ecomuseale per la valorizzazione delle identità locali"; “Geografia dei trasporti e della logistica”.
He also participated in the International Research Group: "Ciudad, Comercio Urbano y Consumo" Coordinator: Prof. Carles Carreras, Departament de Geografia Humana Universitat de Barcelona (Spagna).
