IRTO Anna

Dr. Anna Irto obtained the Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry in 2011, the Master's Degree in 2013 and a PhD in Chemical Sciences in 2017, with mention “Doctor Europaeus” (XXIX Cycle). In 2015 at the University of Lisbon (Portugal) she worked on the synthesis of new potential metals chelating agents in environmental and biological matrices. Between 2015 and 2021 she was tutor in Chemistry at the University of Messina and "Mediterranea" of Reggio Calabria. In 2017 she received the “NJC” Award for the best poster presentation during the ISMEC2017 congress. In 2017 and 2020 she was a member of the organizing committees of the "Workshop of the Sicily and Calabria Sections of the Italian Chemical Society 2016-2017" and of the "Workshop of the Sicily Section of the Italian Chemical Society 2020". From 2017 to 2021 she received four Post-doctoral research grants (SSD CHIM/01), performing studies on polyfunctional ligands for the speciation of metal and organometals in natural and biological systems. In 2018, she participated to an Italian-German international mobility project at the University of Jena (Germany), working on the synthesis of metallophores, compounds potentially exploitable for the removal of metals from environmental and biological matrices. In 2019 she won the "Pulidori Prize", an award reserved for young researchers for their research in the field of the thermodynamic and/or kinetic study of solution equilibria during the ISMEC2019 congress. From 2019 and 2021 she is Cultore della materia and member of the exams committees for the Environmental Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry subjects, respectively. Since 31/12/2021 she is Fixed-term Researcher – type A at the CHIBIOFARAM Department of the University of Messina, PON "RESEARCH AND INNOVATION" 2014-2020, SC 03/A1, SSD CHIM/12. She works in the fields of equilibrium thermodynamics and Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry.
