Description
Emanuela Mastronardo obtained her Ph.D. in Materials Engineering and Chemistry in 2016 from the Department of Engineering at the University of Messina, Italy. She conducted part of her doctoral research at the Laboratory for Advanced Nuclear Energy at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. Her project proposal "SESPer – Solar Energy Storage Perovskites" received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Global Fellowship No. 74616 (2017). The project led to the development of innovative materials for thermochemical heat storage in solar thermal power plants to enhance their efficiency.
She worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University, US (2017–2019), and at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the CSIC, Spain (2019–2020). She is currently an Associate Professor of Materials Science and Technology at the Department of Engineering at the University of Messina.
She is the author of 46 peer-reviewed research articles, holds 2 patents, and has an h-index of 14. She has participated in numerous international and national conferences, also serving as a Keynote Speaker and member of the scientific committee. She has been awarded the “Seal of Excellence” by the European Commission and the “AICIng Award for Young Researchers.”
She is a member of AIMAT – the Italian Association of Materials Engineering, the International Energy Agency's Solar Heating and Cooling (IEA/SHC) and Energy Conservation and Energy Storage (ECES) programmes, as well as the SolarPACES Task III. Her scientific research activities include collaborations with national and international academic and industrial research groups, along with participation in and coordination of various research projects.
