Overview (3)
Band 3 protein: study of the protein interaction with deoxyhemoglobin and / or glycolytic enzymes with particular regard at the mechanisms underlying metabolic regulation of the erythrocyte.
Red blood cells: erythrocyte as based model of study to predict the pharmacologic effects of selected molecules. This research line has also the purpose to study the potential correlation between amyloid protein aggregation and erythrocyte state with the aim to use red blood cell as an early disease sensor and/or as an efficient drug delivery.
The Research activity using advanced and complex mathematical models, is centered on red blood cell as model of study, focusing on some specific topics:
Hemoglobin: study of the structural and functional properties of the protein, comparative aspects. Involvement of the protein in the regulation of human erythrocyte metabolism.
