Description
Daniele Giuffrida is currently an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry, at the University of Messina, Italy. On the 4th of April 2018, he was judged suitable for the position of University Full Professor. His current research interests are focused on the chemical composition and nutritional properties and health benefits of natural and processed foods. He was selected to be part of the teaching board of the course entitled "Promoting Health-Food Ingredients: Carotenoid Science and Technology" which was held at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia-Bogota Headquarters, in July 2015. During April 2017, he was invited at the University of Panama, as a Visiting Professor. He is member of the International Carotenoid Society, and has been elected as Council Member (ICS Council) for the period 2017-2023. He was a member of the International Advisory Board of the 19th International Symposium on Carotenoids (ISC2023). On the 14th of July 2023 has been bestowed the honor of the Fellowship to the International Carotenoids Society and has received the Paul Karrer medal. He is member of the EUROCAROTEN Network. He is a member of the Editorial Board of: Antioxidants, ACS Food Science & Technology. He currently teaches courses in "Food Bioactive Molecules" and "Food Chemistry" at Messina University. He works as reviewer for various scientific journals such as Food Chemistry and Food Research International. He is the author of 280 publications, of which 6 book chapters, 108 research articles and 163 congress presentations. He has participated, presenting invited lectures, Key-note, oral communications and posters in many National and International Conferences. He was also involved in the organizing and scientific committee of National and International Conferences. Currently collaborates with various universities and institutes both national and international. He followed, as supervisor, many students in the First Degree theses and PhD Degree and International Ph D Defences.
