The educational objectives of the integrated course of Neurology and Psychiatry are aimed at training the student by achieving a solid knowledge of the neurophysiological mechanisms of movement, balance, articulation, expression and understanding of language, of the function of the cranial nerves. Neurological pathologies associated with alterations of these systems will be investigated and particular attention will be paid to cranial disfunctions, painful craniofacial syndromes, cerebrovascular diseases and dementias. Furthermore, genetic, acquired and post-traumatic central nervous system diseases and myopathies are provided. As regard as the psychiatric aspects, theoretical and methodological issues in the field of Psychiatry are offered as well as knowledge about categorical and dimensional diagnostic criteria, clinical presentations, and outcome of psychiatric disorders in juveniles, adults, and old-age populations. Within the field of mental disorders, will be also treated psychosomatic topics, substance abuse and dependence, and personality disorders
