This course is intended to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the use of dental implants for oral rehabilitation. Treatment planning options, surgical techniques, use of different implant systems and prosthetic solutions will be discussed and critically analyzed. The course will provide students with knowledge on rationale and clinical application of dental implants and discuss contemporary treatment planning modalities for oral rehabilitation. The following implant related topics will be covered during the course -History of Dental implants -Principles of Osseointegration -Implant Biomaterials/ Implant Designs -Indications and Contraindications of Dental Implants -Patient Selection for Implant Therapy -Surgical Protocols and Surgical Placement of Dental Implants -Implant therapy in fully edentulous patients -Immediate loading and computer guided surgery -Implant therapy in partially edentulous patients -Replacement of single tooth with implants in the aesthetic zone -Healing of the extraction socket and management of the edentulous ridge. -Implant Maintenance and Long Term Prognosis Implant complications
