According to the triennial strategic plan (2021-2023) of the Department of Law, an interdisciplinary research group, coordinated by Professor Parrinello, has been set up to examine the issue of discrimination.
Discrimination acquires multiple meanings in contemporary society; on the one hand it creates a distinction, whether intentional or not, based on grounds relating to personal characteristics of the individual or group, which has the effect of imposing burdens, obligations, or disadvantages on such individual or group not imposed upon others, or which withholds or limits access to opportunities, benefits, and advantages available to other members of society; on the other hand, discriminations are applied against companies and consumers, and this leads to a growing strain on the economy.
