Description
Ottavia Giuffrè graduated in Chemistry with full marks in July 1993 at University of Messina. She took a PhD in Chemical Sciences in July 1997. She got a post-doctoral study grant in Chemical Sciences in the two year-period 1998-2000. In July 2001 she started to work as researcher in the SSD CHEM-01/A – Analytical Chemistry (at that time CHIM/01) at Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry of the University of Messina. Since December 2006 she is Associate Professor in the SSD CHEM-01/A – Analytical Chemistry (at that time CHIM/01) in the same Department.
Her research is mainly focused on:
-speciation studies on complexes formed by ligands of biological and/or pharmaceutical or environmental interest with several metal cations.
-dependence on ionic strength of thermodynamic parameters of protonation and complexation of different ligand classes.
She is co-author of 100 scientific papers published on international journals. She has illustrated the results of her researches in over 70 Italian and international congresses. She is Associate Editor and member of the Editorial Board of 5 international journals. She has been Guest Editor di 5 Special Issue on international journals.
She is a member of the Doctoral College in Chemical Sciences at the University of Messina from 2004 to today.
She has taught at the University of Messina, different courses for the Degree Course in Chemistry, Master's Chemistry and Biological Sciences. Among which: “Laboratory of Instrumental Analysis", "Complementary Instrumental Analysis", "Analytical Clinical Chemistry", "Analytical Chemistry Methodologies".
She coordinated the research of many undergraduate and graduate students and she was the supervisor of dozens of theses of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, tutor of PhD students and Erasmus students.
