LANZAFAME Paola

Prof. Paola Lanzafame is associate professor in Industrial Chemistry (SSD CHIM/04) at the University of Messina from 2022. In 2001 she graduated in Chemistry at the Univ. of Messina. From 2002-2003 she carried out her research activities with a fellow in the frame of the European project SUPER (EU G5RD-CT2001-00519), Univ. of Messina. In 2006 she obtained her PhD in Engineering and Chemistry of Materials, Univ. of Messina. From 2005 to 2010 she had a fixed-term contract in the frame of Scientific and Strategic Management of the Network of Excellence IDECAT (NMP3-CT-2005-011730) acquiring considerable experience in the scientific management of international multi-partners research projects. She was coordinator of two projects for young researcher (FIRB 2008 and 2010), admitted to the final stage with a high score. From 2010 to 2011 she obtained a research grant for the project "Development of nano-structured materials for the catalytic conversion of CO2 to products with high added value" at the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Materials Engineering of the Univ. of Messina. From 2011 to 2021 she is researcher in Industrial Chemistry (SSD CHIM/04) at the Univ. of Messina. She was scientific responsible of the research unit of Messina for the European projects WAVES and RECO2DE. She participated in the technical-scientific management of several national and European projects. In 2023 she gained the ASN qualification as Full Professor in “Industrial Chemistry”.
She is author of 54 publications and several communications at International Congresses.
The specific expertise is in the synthesis and characterization of mixed oxides and micro and meso-porous materials containing transition metals for process in the chemical and sustainable energy sector. Her recent research interests include the development of nanostructured carbon materials for electrocatalytic conversion of CO2.
