SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
Dr. Cristina CRAVANA since 2004 is an integral part of a research group that operates within the Scientific Disciplinary Sector "Veterinary Physiology" at the Department of Veterinary Sciences of the University of Messina.
The scientific activity, all experimental, is represented by n. 103 papers of which 71 in indexed journals, concerning the study of neuroendocrine and metabolic functionality in different domestic species in different physiological and para-physiological conditions, which have been largely communicated at National and International Congresses.
The main RESEARCH LINES carried out since 2004 are represented by:
- Study of hormonal, metabolic and hemato-chemical correlations in horses during competitive and non-competitive physical activity.
- Response of the main neuroendocrine and metabolic functions in different domestic species in different physiological and para-physiological conditions (pregnancy, postpartum, growth, weaning).
- Evaluation of the main neuroendocrine and functional indicators of transport stress in different domestic species.
- Study on the interactions between different hormonal systems and their role in maintaining well-being in different stress patterns in equines and ruminants.
- Study on the skills of interspecific facial discrimination of the Horse.
- Study of hormonal responses in the horse undergoing equestrian rehabilitation and in function of different riders.
