D'AMICO Giacomo

He graduated in law from the University of Messina with a grade of 110 cum laude (1997).
After graduating, he did his military service first as a secondary officer at the Cesano Infantry School and then as a Carabinieri Officer at the Carabinieri School of Rome (1997-1998).
He has been awarded a scholarship for participation in the Research Doctorate in Constitutional Justice and Fundamental Rights, XV cycle (2000-2002), at the University of Pisa, obtaining the title of PhD.
He passed the bar exam (2000) and completed the two-year notary practice (1999-2001).
He has been: a university researcher from 2002 to 2011; associate professor from 2011 to 2021. Since 2021 he is full professor at the Department of Law of the University of Messina.
From 2005 to 2014 he was law clerk of Prof. Gaetano Silvestri at the Constitutional Court.
From 2018 to 2024 he was law clerk of Prof. Daria de Pretis at the Constitutional Court.
From 2015 to 2017 he has been legal advisor to the President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly.
From 2015 to 2017 he has been a consultant to the Parliamentary Commission for regional issues.
From 2015 to 2016 he has been part of a working group at the Ministry of the Civil Service for the drafting of the legislative decree about a service conference.
From 2023 he is Coordinator of the master’s degree programme in law.
He is member of the editorial board of the review Quaderni Costituzionali and of the direction of Diritti regionali, Giustizia and Il diritto della Regione. He is responsible for the Observatory on constitutional jurisprudence of Rassegna parlamentare
He is the author of over one hundred scientific publications, including three monographies.
He has given numerous talks, interventions and lectures in He has given numerous lectures, speeches and lectures in the Master’s programme; he is a member of the faculty board of the Scuola superiore della magistratura (SSM).
