CHIARA COSTA, born in Messina on May 19, 1971.
• In 1995 Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Messina, with a grade of 110 and honors / 110, discussing an experimental thesis in Occupational Medicine entitled "Study on peri- and postnatal toxicity from D-2-ethyl- hexylphthalate (DEHP) ".
• Winner of the 1996 "Massimo Crepet" Study Award established by the Italian University Association of Occupational Medicine with the motivation that the thesis presented "indisputable originality, valid scientific methodology and accurate presentation".
• In 1996 Qualification for professional practice at the University of Messina. Registration in the Register of Physicians and Surgeons of the Province of Messina since 29/07/1996 (Card No. 7129).
• Molecular Biology Internship at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, under the guidance of Prof. Juan Jose Aragon de Los Reyes (2-24 September 1992).

• Achievement of the SIDAPA award at the 16th SIDAPA National Congress (Verona, 17-19 November 2016) for the communication "Evaluation of the release of Nickel and Chromium in foods during cooking in 18/10 stainless steel containers" of which co-author.
• She collaborated from 1998 to 2014 with the CITSAL (Interdepartmental Center of Experimental, Environmental and Labor Toxicology) of the University of Messina, in particular for environmental analyzes on air and water matrices, biological monitoring of workers exposed to chemical risk, responsible doctor for bioequivalence and tolerability studies (Farmila Farmaceutici, Pharmacia Upjohn, Therapicon). From 2005 to 2014 she was Scientific Director of the Test Center certified at CITSAL (certif. • From 2001 to 2007, international scientific collaboration with University of Texas Medical Center (Houston, Texas) and Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida, Center for Traumatic Brain Injury Studies (Gainesville, Florida) for the study of the behavioral deficit and the alteration of the blood-brain barrier following head trauma.
• From 2007 to 2019 international scientific collaboration with the Phytochemicals and Health Program, Institute of Food Research (Norwich Research Park, United Kingdom) aimed at studying the molecular mechanisms of oxidative stress determined by occupational and environmental exposure to chemical agents and the effect chemopreventive of antioxidant compounds present in the diet.
• From 2008 to 2009 international scientific collaboration with the Biochemical Toxicology Laboratory directed by Prof. James J. Heffron, Department of Biochemistry, University College Cork (Ireland) aimed at studying the metabolic activation of pesticides in commercial formulation.
• Since 2015 she has collaborated with the research group coordinated by Prof. Aristidis Tsatsakis, Director of the Toxicology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, University of Crete and past-president of the European Society of Toxicology. CLINICAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES
• Since 2002 Medical Doctor at the Complex Unit of Occupational Medicine at the University Hospital "Policlinico G. Martino" in Messina, where she carries out specialist outpatient activities in Occupational Medicine. Currently, she is Referent of the Occupational Respiratory Physiopathology section and of the Professional Toxicology Laboratory.
• From 2004 to 2010 she was part of the Simple Unit of Industrial Hygiene at the University Hospital "Policlinico G. Martino" in Messina, dealing with the development of protocols and methods and the execution of analyzes in the field of environmental and professional toxicology. In particular, she carried out second-level investigations for the biological monitoring of workers exposed to chemical risk by consultations for internal and external users of the Hospital and quantitative dosage of chemical agents and their metabolites in biological liquids by liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), immunochemiluminescence, spectrophotometry and fluorimetry. She also took care of the environmental monitoring of chemical risk in the workplace, carrying out the sampling and analysis (in HPLC, GC and gravimetry) of airborne pollutants in public and private companies. Since 2010, the activity of the SU of Industrial Hygiene has been integrated into that of the Professional Toxicology Laboratory of the CU of Occupational Medicine.
• From 2005 to 2014 Scientific Director of the Test Center certified at the C.I.T.S.A.L. (Interdepartmental Center for Experimental, Environmental and Labor Toxicology) of the University of Messina, which has obtained from the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and the Ministry of Health the qualification of Test Center operating in Good Laboratory Practices for certification purposes of conformity (certif. N ° 17/2011 issued pursuant to Legislative Decree 50 of 2/3/2007) for the execution of chemical-analytical and toxicological studies and tests in GLP. She has collaborated with CITSAL since 1998, dealing in particular with environmental monitoring of indoor and outdoor chemical agents and biological monitoring of workers exposed to chemical risk.
• Since 2015 Member of the Quality Assurance management group in the Degree Course in Prevention Techniques in Environments and Workplaces.
• From 2018 to 2021 Coordinator of the Master's Degree Course in Diagnostic Techniques of Health Professions.

CLINICAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES
• Since 2002 Medical Doctor at the Complex Unit of Occupational Medicine at the University Hospital "Policlinico G. Martino" in Messina, where she carries out specialist outpatient activities in Occupational Medicine. Currently, she is Referent of the Occupational Respiratory Physiopathology section and of the Professional Toxicology Laboratory.
• From 2004 to 2010 she was part of the Simple Unit of Industrial Hygiene at the University Hospital "Policlinico G. Martino" in Messina, dealing with the development of protocols and methods and the execution of analyzes in the field of environmental and professional toxicology. In particular, she carried out second-level investigations for the biological monitoring of workers exposed to chemical risk by consultations for internal and external users of the Hospital and quantitative dosage of chemical agents and their metabolites in biological liquids by liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC), immunochemiluminescence, spectrophotometry and fluorimetry. She also took care of the environmental monitoring of chemical risk in the workplace, carrying out the sampling and analysis (in HPLC, GC and gravimetry) of airborne pollutants in public and private companies. Since 2010, the activity of the SU of Industrial Hygiene has been integrated into that of the Professional Toxicology Laboratory of the CU of Occupational Medicine.
• From 2005 to 2014 Scientific Director of the Test Center certified at the C.I.T.S.A.L. (Interdepartmental Center for Experimental, Environmental and Labor Toxicology) of the University of Messina, which has obtained from the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and the Ministry of Health the qualification of Test Center operating in Good Laboratory Practices for certification purposes of conformity (certif. N ° 17/2011 issued pursuant to Legislative Decree 50 of 2/3/2007) for the execution of chemical-analytical and toxicological studies and tests in GLP. She has collaborated with CITSAL since 1998, dealing in particular with environmental monitoring of indoor and outdoor chemical agents and biological monitoring of workers exposed to chemical risk.
• Since 2015 Member of the Quality Assurance management group in the Degree Course in Prevention Techniques in Environments and Workplaces.
• From 2018 to 2021 Coordinator of the Master's Degree Course in Diagnostic Techniques of Health Professions.
• From 2021 Coordinator of the Degree Course in Prevention Techniques in the Environment and in the Workplace.
• She has participated as medical director in numerous clinical studies of bioequivalence and tolerability of drugs, applying the rules of Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice.
• Provides for the drafting and revision of the Standard Operating Procedures falling within her competence, as well as their connection with other laboratories and Operational Units involved.
• As a specialist in Occupational Medicine, she participates in the management of safety at private and public companies in agreement with the University Hospital "Policlinico G. Martino".
