Description
Carlo Sansotta graduated in solid state physics at the University of Messina in the A.Y. 1988 -89 and obtained the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Physics with full marks in the A.Y. 1996 -97 at the School of Specialization in Health Physics of the University of Messina.
From 2000 to date he has been serving in the role of Professore Aggregato (Assistant Professor), SSD Fis / 07, SC 02 / D1, at the Department of Biomedical, Dental and Morphofunctional Imaging Sciences (BioMORF) of the University of Messina, Orcid-ID: 0000-0003-3371-108X.
He is part of the Working Group for the Third Mission of the Department, for which he conceived, designed and created the related website. Since its inception, he has held the position of Technical Manager of the Diagnostic Image Processing Laboratory (L.EL.ID) of the Department, thanks to which some improvements have been developed on the infrared shooting systems of the Swedish company AGA (now FLIR). He is the main creator and creator of the “WebLab-Interactive Multimedia Virtual Laboratory”, weblab.unime.it, an online interactive multimedia tool. The WebLab, created thanks to numerous international and national collaborations, was awarded by the Java Applet Rating Service (JARS) with the title of “JARS top 25%”, as falling within 25% of the best scientific applications in Java; large parts of the WebLab are included in textbooks and educational sites and is indicated and / or recommended both by various italian and foreign universities, and by the Ministry of Education in the educational paths as a suggested help for students who have to take the final exams.
As author or co-author, he has collaborated in research activities mainly in the area of physics applied to medicine, biology, the environment and architectural heritage, as well as health physics and information technology applied to the biomedical and health sector, both from a methodological and experimental point of view. His attention and his studies, in particular, are mainly addressed towards the themes of scientific research involving telemedicine, teleradiology and related quality controls, processing of signals and images of biomedical interest, interaction of electromagnetic radiation with biological matter, use of physical investigation techniques in the study of architectural and archaeological heritage. He has participated several times, even by invitation, in seminars, congresses and webinars on the research topics in which he is involved. He is the author or co-author of numerous scientific and popular publications and monographs, published in international and national journals, as well as books or chapters of scientific and educational books, including "Elementi di Informatica", quoted by Wikipedia (wikipedia.it) under the item "Informatica".
He has been repeatedly and continuously assigned official teaching assignments in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science in various Degree / Study Courses and Specialization Schools and is the reference professor for the Degree Course in Gastronomic Sciences at the University of Messina. He has been appointed "tutor" several times and has held, and still holds today, the post of didactic coordinator of the Integrated Course / Teaching at various Degree Programs.
