MUCCIARDI Massimo

Associate Professor of Social Statistics (S.S.D. STAT-03/B) at the University of Messina, qualified for the role of Full Professor in Demography and Social Statistics. His scientific activity lies at the intersection of social statistics, demography, territorial analysis and spatial statistics, with a specific focus on population distribution, foreign population settlement patterns, residential segregation, territorial inequalities and the use of quantitative methods for the study of social phenomena. He has published extensively in national and international journals and edited volumes, developing methodological approaches based on spatial indices, geographically weighted regression, concentration measures and multiscalar analytical tools. He has participated in national and international research projects, including PRIN, PRIN-PNRR, GRINS, SERICS and research activities funded under FAMI and ESF programmes. He has served as scientific coordinator of institutional agreements and applied research assignments with public bodies, carrying out survey design, data processing, demographic and socio-economic analyses in support of territorial planning. His teaching activity covers master’s degree programmes, PhD programmes and university master courses, with courses in data analysis, quantitative methodologies, social statistics, spatial statistics and research methods for the social sciences. He has supervised PhD students and has served on PhD boards, academic committees and quality assurance groups. He also acts as reviewer for scientific journals and is a member of international editorial boards. His technical skills include the use of statistical and GIS software, including SPSS, STATA, R, MATLAB, ArcGIS and QGIS.
