PROF. SSA GIUSEPPINA LAGANA'
Giuseppina Laganà has graduated in Biological Sciences on 1980 (110 /110 with laude), at the University of Messina.
From 1981 to 1983 she has enjoyed of a biennial scholarship called by the University of Messina.
She has graduated in Pharmacy on 1982 (110 /110 with laude), at the University of Messina.
She has achieved the qualification to the teaching of Agrarian Chemistry (class XVI) and of Nutrition Sciences (class LXXXIII), called by M. D.of 4/9/1982 , as well as in mathematical, chemical, physics and naturals Sciences (class LXXXV), called by R. S. D. of 30/10/1982.
She has achieved the ability for graduated technician to the C.N.R. (G.U. 18/10/1983 n°286).
She is specialized in Biochemistry Marina on 1985 (50 /50 with laude), at the University of Messina.
Since 1984 to 1990 she has been named in the role of the teachers of the Institutes of Secondary Education of 2° degree for the teaching of Agrarian and Enological Chemistry.
In 1990, she has been named University Researcher at the Department of Organic and Biological Chemistry of the Messina University (Group 76 – Biochemical, Molecular Biology, Biophysics).
Since 1993 she has been introduced in the role of the confirmed researchers.
She has always teached in the Laboratory of Experimental Biology II° (Course of Degree in Biological Sciences).
It belongs to numerous examination academy board.
Since A.Y. 1994/95 she teached Chemical Microbiology (art.12 L.19/11/90, n°341) at the Applied Microbiology Specialization School (Mathematical, Chemical, Physics and Naturals Sciences Faculty).
Since A.Y. 1995/96 she teached Enzimology (Course of Degree in Biological Sciences).
Since A.Y. 2001/02 to the A.Y.2004/2005 she teached Biochemical Applications to the food farming products (Course of Degree in Biological Sciences).
Since A.Y. 2004/05 she teached Complements of Biochemistry (Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences).
Since A.Y.2005/06 she teached Biochemical Methodologies Applied to the Evolution (Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences).

Since A.Y. 2011/12 she is teaching Biochemistry with Clinical Biochemistry elements (Course of Degree in Applied Pharmaceutical Science).
In A.Y. 2012/13 and 2013/2014 she is teaching Nutritional Biochemistry (School of Specialization in Hospital Pharmacy).
Since A.Y. 2020/21 she is teaching Advanced Biochemistry (Master’s Degree in Biology of health, Applied Technologies and Nutrition).
In A.Y. 2020/21 and 2021/2022 she is teaching Enzimology (Master’s Degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition).
Since A.Y. 2020/21 she is teaching Enzimology (PhD in Chemical Sciences).
Since A.Y. 2022/2023 she is teaching Enzyme and Nutrition (Master’s Degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition).
She has taught didactics of the biochemistry in the Courses of PAS and TFA (The I and II cycle) activated in the University of Messina.
She has always been a member of the Teaching Commission of the CdS in Biological Sciences, Master’s Degree in Biology and Master’s Degree in Biology of health, Applied Technologies and Nutrition).
Since 2020 he has been a member of the Joint Commission of the Department of Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences.
Since A.Y. 2007/2008 has been part of the College of PhD Teachers in Specialized Medical Sciences of Messina University for the XXIII and XXIV cycle.
Since A.Y. 2017/2018 she is part of the College of PhD Teachers in Chemical Sciences of Messina University.
She has intensely carried out tutorial activity following numerous students for their thesis of degree.
Her research activity has been carried out on diversified topics. In particular the followed lines are:
- utilization of the agriculture and the agroindustries by-products to produce animal feeding.
- increase in value of the olive residues and the waters of vegetation of the olives;
- provoked damages, on leaves and fruits of lemon and other plants, from vanadium-rich ashes.
- characterization of honey and foods industrially produced for HPLC.
- relationships between glutathion and protein synthesis in cancer cells at different growth stage.
- isolation and characterization of the OCTasi of sea organisms and vegetables.
- activity of the enzymes of the metabolism of bathypelagic fishes.
- influence of the polyamines on metabolism.
-LDH and MDH isozymes from sea and terrestrial organisms and from microorganisms.
- Polyamine metabolism in microorganism, animals and vegetable under stress.
- function and modulation of human and marine organism Band-3 protein
- Isolation, identification, antioxidant and pro-oxidant activity determination of some poliphenols of natural source.
- Study of dynamic and structural correlations between proteins and solvent, in absence of presence of molecules (kosmotropes and chaotropes), following folding, dehydration and preservation, with the purpose to clarify the relationship functionality it structures.
The results of these researches activities are attested by publications on international journals and participation at national and international conferences.
