Description
Degree in Industrial Chemistry at University of Messina and Ph.D. in “Chemistry of Materials”. From 2000 to 2006 he received research grants for studies on the development of heterogeneous metal based catalysts. Since February 2, 2006 he had a researcher position at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Messina. Since 30/11/2016 he is Associate Professor (Scientific Field ING-IND/22 Materials Science and Technology) at the Engineering Department of the University of Messina.
Since 2020 he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor in the Scientific Field CHIM/07 (Chemical foundations of technologies).
He was a member of the boarding of the Ph.D. Course in "Chemistry and Materials Engineering", “Energy”, "Engineering and Chemistry of Materials and Constructions", "BioEngineering applied to medical sciences". He was elected Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree Course in Biomedical Engineering of the University of Messina for the three-year period 2021-2024.
The research activity is focused on issues related to nanotechnologies and nanomaterials with particular reference to the study of chemical and structural properties, as well as property-structure relationships and synthesis and characterization technologies of latest-generation nanostructured materials for the development of polymeric matrix composites or functional ceramic materials for tissue engineering or materials for sensors or for drug delivery. The experience gained is documented by over 130 scientific publications both in international journals and on national and international congress proceedings.
Scopus bibliometric indicators: h-index 28, documents 78, total citations 2386.
