The Environmental Hygiene Laboratory (Cell Culture; Fluorimetry and ConfocalMicroscopy), located on the third floor of Building G, G. Martino University Hospital, carries out research activities in the field of Environmental Hygiene. In particular, studies are conducted to evaluate the effects of environmental pollutants, both short- and long-term (acute and chronic exposure), on human cell cultures (lung, intestinal, nervous, etc.), assessing their cytotoxicity, genotoxicity, mitochondrial alterations, ROS production, lysosomal damage, apoptosis, etc., to better understand the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying major environmental-related diseases.
