RILIEVI MORFOEPIDEMIOLOGICI SUL CARCINOMA GASTRICO CARDIALE

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1995
abstract:
The authors examine the most important epidemiologic, clinical, histopathologic features of 57 cardial carcinomas and of 110 carcinomas of the lower third of the stomach as comparison. This study shows that the cardial carcinomas differ from the carcinomas of the lower third of the stomach for these characteristics: 1) higher male/female ratio; 2) lower incidence of signet ring cell carcinoma; 3) esophageal mucosa frequently infiltrated; 4) higher incidence of advanced stages; 5) poorer prognosis. These data suggest that cardial carcinoma shows morphoepidemiologic features distinct from those of the lower third of the stomach.
