Theoretical program (26 hours) Course contents and methods of assessing profit (0,5 hrs). Evidence-based medicine and "problem solving" approach (3,5 hrs). Approach to the patient with (16 hrs): − abdominal distention; − alopecia/cutaneous lesions/pruritus; − altered sensory status; − anorexia/dysorexia/polyphagia; − bleeding disorders; − blindness/ocular disorders; − cough/sneezing/respiratory sounds/dyspnea; − diarrhea; − discolored mucosae; − discolored urine/dysuria; − fever; − heart murmor; − lameness; − neurologic disorders; − polyuria/polydipsia; − sialorrhea/ptyalism; − tremors/myoclonus/seizures; − vomiting/regurgitation/dysphagia; − weakness/asthenia; − weight loss/gain. Clinical examination and diagnostic investigations for the evaluation of organ/ system (cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, neuromuscular, skeletal, skin and ocular) pathologies and of the main endocrine-metabolic, oncological, infectious and parasitic diseases of small companion animals (conventional and exotic pets) (6 hrs). Practical program (12 hours) Biosafety and biosecurity principles. (1 h). Exercises on clinical cases, hospitalized animals, medical records, laboratory reports (8 hrs). Main urgent clinical procedures with practical exercises on cadavers (3 hrs).
