Abstract:
We observed that renal denervation rapidly restores CD34+cell number in patients affected by resistant hypertension. We showed the results of thefirst 6 patientswhocompleted thefirst stage of the study protocol, and these data are clearly preliminary; if these results will be confirmed on a
larger scale, we believe that they could provide new insights about CD34+ cells and pathophysiological aspects of arterial hypertension. They also provide further evidence that the blood pressure lowering effects of RSD are largely attributable to its sympathoinhibitory effects.
