Capo Murro di Porco (SR) come osservatorio per l’evoluzione della biodiversità fitobentonica del Mediteraneo: il popolamento algale come ulteriore motivo di tutela

The authors describe peculiar features of the marine flora and vegetation at Capo Murro di Porco (Maddalena Peninsula - Syracuse). A review of the works published after 1950, related to underwater observations and relevaments, has been done. The importance of the site is due to the incredible mixture of vegetable elements, Tropical, Indopacific, Atlantic and Mediterranean species. This complicate ecologic lab has to be preserved to help the comprehension of the benthic dynamism and some of the recent ecological changes of the Mediterranean Sea.
