Leopardi e l'Asino" di Machiavelli

Il saggio analizza i possibili esiti della lettura leopardiana dell'"Asino" di Machiavelli, sul solco dell'interesse del poeta per il linguaggio satirico cinquecentesco e per la produzione del segretario fiorentino. L'analisi muove dalla valutazione di appunti di Leopardi, nonché di brani della sua produzione in cui si riscontrano coincidenze tematiche o stilistiche con il poemetto machiavelliano. The essay analyses the possible results of Leopardi’s reading of Machiavelli’s Asino, on the ground of the poet’s interest for the satirical language of the sixteenth century and for the production of the florentine secretary. The analyses moves from the evaluation of Leopardi’s notes, and from passages of his production in which thematic or stylistic coincidences with Machiavelli’s poem can be found. Although it cannot be strictly considered a ‘source’, the Asino was present in the poet’s library and memory, and might have had important suggestions on him.
